It was one day before Thanksgiving and Jessica and I were sitting on the sofa laughing. After she came over to the house last week and told me how she felt, I saw her in a whole different light. And I was beginning to like the view. We were enjoying each other’s company, talking about any and everything, when we got on the subject of Christmas shopping.

"So, I will go to the mall and pick out something nice for Mariyah, because your sense of style for girls sucks," she said holding up an orange outfit that I'd picked out for Mariyah.

"My sense of style does not suck. I got that from the discount rack at Burkes Outlet. Burkes has some nice gear. Look at me. I'm fly."

"Just the simple fact that you are still using the words gear and fly proves my point. You are outdated, old fashioned, and sort of a prude."

I pulled her close to me and with my lips only a few inches from hers, I asked, "So the other night when you came over here saying that I was a blessing, handsome, and a lot of other charming words you didn’t mean it, huh?"

"Oh, I meant every word. I love your style," she said giving me a peck on the lips. "But it's your style. Not Mariyah’s. It's a girl thing."

"Okay." I released my grip on her as she stood up and picked up the shopping bag.

"Now, let me take these things back to Burkes and I'll pick up something nice for your daughter, from the mall."

I watched in amazement as Jessica walked toward the door with the bag in her hand. "Are you sure you don't want me to go with you?" I asked, not wanting to be away from her.

"No, I want it to be a surprise."

"If you say so. I guess I'll be sitting right here until you return, Miss. Fashion Diva."

"Of course you will." She looked at me as if she owned me. I stood up and walked to her, wondering if she really did.

"You remember the other night when you came over?" I pulled her to me and wrapped my arms around her waist.

Looking into my eyes, she said, "Yeah, I remember."

I eased my face down to hers and kissed her succulent lips. The same lips I'd fallen asleep thinking about that night. Again, they tasted as good as I'd imagined. My hands began to explore every inch of her backside. I squeezed hard, not wanting to let go.

"But what if Mariyah comes in?" she said breaking away.

"She's spending the night with her best friend," I said, reclaiming her in my arms. And those lips. We kissed for what seemed like hours standing right there in the doorway. Passion set deep in my loin when she moaned into my mouth. That lit a fire deep inside of me. I couldn’t say a word, so I allowed my lips to speak to her. To tell her that I needed her in the most primal way.
